About
Dr. Kimberly Lynn grew up in Kirkland, WA, and attended Lake Washington High School. She then moved to the east coast and earned her B.A. in History at the College of William and Mary in Virginia and her M.A. and Ph.D.in History at the Johns Hopkins University. As a historian, she studies the religious, legal, and political culture of the early modern Hispanic world, focusing on the sixteenth and seventeenth centuries. Most of her research has centered on the infamous Spanish Inquisition, including her book Between Court and Confessional: The Politics of Spanish Inquisitors (Cambridge University Press, 2013; paperback, 2015). She has been awarded Fulbright and Mellon fellowships, and has conducted research in libraries and archives throughout Europe and the United States, as well as in Mexico City. Dr. Lynn arrived at Western in January 2007 and, in addition to serving as the Director of the Honors College, she is a Professor of Humanities in the Department of Global Humanities and Religions and an Affiliate Professor of History.
